Dare to Care

Published: 01,11,2021

Impacting others by giving, serving and going.

This past October, Polydeck held our Community Caring Day—an annual event where we bring together all three production shifts along with our sales team (and even remote team members via Skype) to review our company's impact in Spartanburg and beyond, and to talk about what's next for us as a Caring culture in 2020.

It was encouraging to celebrate what our company has done collectively in 2019.

Below are THREE ways that Polydeck is committing to making a difference in 2020:

We’ve all thought it: “If I ever won the lottery, I would give a bunch of money to ____,” and then we fill in the blank with a cause we care about. But we don’t have to wait to strike it rich to be effective philanthropists. The fact is, whatever you have the capacity to give today can change someone’s tomorrow for the better.

To that end, Polydeck partners with The United Way, the South Carolina Christian Foundation, and Chosen Children Ministries—three incredible non-profits that are making a significant impact in the lives of those who need it most.

When we give as individuals in 2020, each dollar we raise will be generously matched by Polydeck so that we can reach more people and multiply the results of our giving.

Have you ever had a friend show up to help you move, or a family member drive a far distance to celebrate your birthday? There’s something powerful that happens when someone sacrifices their time to be there for you, and that is the gift we give when we serve others.

You’ve probably heard the saying that “many hands make light work.” For a lot of Polydeck’s charity partners, if we aren’t there to help on a particular day, then they can’t serve those in need. A few hours of our time changes the life of the families we serve. In 2020, we are continually committing to make a huge impact by giving just a little bit of our personal time every week to be there for others. Whether it is partnering with Mobile Meals to bring hot lunches to people in need during the week or volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to build homes on the weekend, we want to keep making an impact in our community.

“Seeing the world and making a difference” isn’t an ad for the Marines; rather, it’s how we share the opportunity that our Serving Trips offer in 2020.

Serving outside of our local community allows us to gain perspective in our lives by making a difference in an area that desperately needs it. It also bonds us as co-workers and lets us have fun and share camaraderie. Polydeck sponsors serving trips to Nicaragua and other local places to do just this.

In ordinary life, we hardly realize that we receive a great deal more than we give, and that it is only with gratitude that life becomes rich.” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

As we head into the Thanksgiving season, my prayer is that we all realize that we’ve been blessed more than we deserve. It’s from this realization that we can find the motivation to give, serve, and go forth.
